Justice for Quason "Qua" Turner

On March 28, 2016 this world lost a bright light when 16 year old Quason Turner was killed in a hit and run. Words cannot begin to express what kind of young man Quason was but I am going to try to give you a glimpse into the young man I knew. Quason was an amazing young man who would go out of his way to help those around him. I first met Quason when he was student in my 7th grade class. I watched him grow from a child into an extraordinary young man. Quason had a passion for the arts and loved to draw. He joined CHAMP (a college prep program with Rowan University) in the 7th grade and was active until he was killed. Quason knew where he wanted to go....to college, whether for arts, football or to simply further his education. He had a goal in mind and was working towards it.
On March 28th, Susan Hyland was driving with an indefinitely suspended license (previously suspended 39 times) when she not only hit Quason but left him on Route 130 to die, without even stopping to check on him . She then disappeared into Camden where she hid and discussed torching her car. When police arrived the next morning for her arrest, she tried to run. Susan Hyland has FIVE previous CRIMINAL convictions, has been a regular DRUG user for at least the last 13 years. Her only punishment for taking the life of an amazing young man is to join a drug treatment program.
Susan Hyland plead GUILTY to leaving the scene of a FATAL accident, causing DEATH while driving on a suspended license and ENDANGERING an injured victim. How does she not only plead guilty to these offenses but also now gets a chance to restart her life while Quason's has ended and those that love him must continue to live without his light?
We, the undersigned, implore you to appeal this unjust court decision and demand justice for Quason, an amazing young man who's life was cut short due to the reckless, cold-hearted actions of Susan Hyland who couldn't even be bothered to stop her car to try to help.

We are asking you to appeal the decision that was made regarding sentencing of Susan Hyland who not only plead guilty to to leaving the scene of a fatal accident, causing death while driving on a suspended license and endangering an injured victim but has a history of behavior that proves this is not her first offense. It is not fair that her punishment is rehab and the ability to restart her life, while Quason's family and friends must forever live without this amazing young man. Thank you.
