Due to the recent requirement that all Head Start educational and additional staff get the COVID vaccine, an astounding number of Head Start staff have resigned or will be out of a job should they not get vaccinated.  This is causing Head Start classrooms to close or go virtual. 

First, this affects the children and families we serve.  The lapse in continuity of education inhibits the children to learn and grow. The parents are then unable to work and receive QUALITY education for their children.  Preschool children need routine and consistency at this age to be successful in the classroom. 

Second, special education supports are serviced in the Head Start classroom. The children who need extra supports and services will not be receiving these supports. The children who need speech therapy,  PT, OT, and itinerant special education will be suffering without those services. 

Lastly, the teachers and staff of Head Start have the right to choose what happens to their bodies. It is their choice whether or not they receive the COVID 19 vaccination.  Just as it is YOUR right to choose what happens to yours.
