I am writing to let you know about a second petition CAANJ has launched, regarding New Jersey's ongoing judicial crisis. With 58 judicial vacancies through out the state, there is currently a backlog of approximately 75,000 cases. While the judges serving are working hard to keep things moving, justice is being significantly delayed for children and families. Unless the governor starts nominating more judges to fill these vacancies (and the many more that will be created in the coming year due to mandatory retirements), the situation will only get worse. Please join us in urging Governor Murphy and state senators to take action to address this crisis!
