The Issue

I am sharing my deeply personal story with you to illuminate a pressing issue that affects countless Americans. My experience watching this happen to those who suffer from substance addiction, particularly opioids and methamphetamine, led to severe dental deterioration, leaving their teeth damaged beyond repair. This physical toll went beyond one in particular's oral health, causing severe damage to their heart due to the decay &:rot in their mouth that it caused such infection to their heart so much that it came to the point where it required two open-heart valve replacements, medical interventions that were life-altering and traumatic. Unfortunately, these interventions were unsuccessful and my friend succumbed to their heart destruction.

It is a reality faced by many others who battle against the grip of addiction. I am now painfully witnessing the same pattern in my cherished loved one, compelled to stand helpless as their dental and overall health deteriorates. It is heart-wrenching, and we desperately need a change.

Dental health is not merely a cosmetic issue; it is intrinsically linked to overall well-being. Unfortunately, many individuals face irreversible dental damage due to substance abuse. Suboxone, a medication used to combat opioid addiction, can also contribute to this problem. Teeth rotting out of the head due to these substances is a harsh reality for many, yet the healthcare system largely overlooks this aspect of recovery.

We are urging policymakers and healthcare providers to recognize dental repair for those affected by substance abuse as a critical component of recovery. By offering accessible, affordable dental care, we restore not only smiles but dignity, confidence, and a crucial aspect of health that can pave the way for successful rehabilitation and integration into society.

Let's come together to advocate for improved health policies. The government and health organizations need to create programs that provide readily available dental repair options for those whose lives have been ravaged by addiction. This change can offer a new lease on life and re-establish connection for those battling substance abuse.

Please sign this petition to request that all Americans who have experienced dental decay from opioid and methamphetamine addiction, or from using Suboxone, receive the dental repair they need. Your signature is a step towards compassion and change for many who feel isolated and ignored. Let's ensure everyone has the chance for a healthier future.
