Offer a Vegan Meal at Dairy Queen

Offer a Vegan Meal at Dairy Queen
The Issue
Families cherish the times they spend together when dining out. Yet, those with unique dietary needs have incredibly limited options at Dairy Queen. Websites and in-store posters highlight a single dairy-free dilly bar, but where are the full meal options? Unfortunately, there are none. Dairy Queen has over 7,500 locations worldwide, yet not one vegan entree on their menu.
While we can order a few sides like fries, plain pretzel sticks and side salad, there are no plant-based protein sources that could make it into a meal. This lack of inclusivity for vegans and families with unique dietary preferences has made it impossible for them to dine here. By catering to vegans, DQ would naturally be catering to an even larger population of people who avoid two common allergens - egg and dairy.
Such a scenario is not unique to my family but it's a common complaint among the growing vegan community, which now pleads for an increase in vegan offerings at Dairy Queen. Consequently, we would like to ask that you create meals such as a vegan burger or vegan 'chick'n' strips, along with plant-based versions of fan-favorite Blizzards. By offering such options, your company would serve a rapidly growing demographic. According to The Vegan Society, the number of vegans in the U.S. has increased by 600% over the last three years (Vegan Society, 2018).
According to the CDC, 8% of children in the United States have food allergies, which translates to roughly 1 in 13 kids (CDC, 2022). Furthermore, a recent study shows that a significant percentage of Americans are actively trying to include more plant-based foods in their diets. The trend shows no signs of stopping, and companies that don't adapt risk losing an increasingly important customer base (Food Business News, 2021).
Inclusion goes beyond merely accommodating those with food allergies; it’s about recognizing and respecting the ethical and dietary choices of all potential customers. Dairy Queen, we call on you to be an industry leader and expand your menu to include quality vegan options. Make Dairy Queen a place where everyone feels welcome, regardless of diet or lifestyle choices. Let's make this change. Sign this petition to demand more vegan options at Dairy Queen!
