The Issue

This petition is the redistribution of land to the freed African American descent which are the sole heirs of this petition, promising "40 Acres and a Mule." The 40 acres returning to the family's ancestry, (whose forefathers were enslaved). This is history changing, revolution(s) such as the petitions beforehand. What is at stake is the equality and generations now and the ones to come to back a life for themselves and not to rely on government assistance. The economic and social society will not only provide African Americans a better opportunity to distribute to society in a way further degree as today. But ultimately provide the same means and ability to push the full potential to income restricted individuals who are intellectually advanced to break history as the equal means to do so.

Twenty Black pastor(s)/ leaders gathered with military officials; request for “The way we can best take care of ourselves is to have land and turn it and till it by our own labor" furthermore stating “We want to be placed on land until we are able to buy it and make it our own.” January 12, 1865, in Savannah, Georgia, as the Civil War neared its end; and enslaved African Americans neared freedom. Were indeed granted this request as a reparation attempt for newly freed slaves. Sherman, signing the "Field Order 15" on January 16, 1865. Reparation(s) constitutes (the order would reserve 400,000 acres of Confederate land for members of the formerly enslaved population.) When the land near the Southeast coast was evenly redistributed, (each family) would have 40 acres of tillable ground. April 15, 1865 (Union Maj. Gen) was Following President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, however, the order was swiftly rescinded (OVERTURNED) by new President Andrew Johnson. The once granted petition that would have changed the lives of many African Americans in modern day society. Some Black people defeated the odds and managed to become landowners. Most, however, had no land to pass on, which prevented them from accumulating multi-generational wealth and left them largely under the control of Southern white landowners.

Now is the time to advance our community and become united? Why now you ask, if not now than when? how much longer will we overlook the geniuses who are not of a higher social class. Who can utilize their full capabilities and thrust forward in life given the adequate income to do so. That have to settle for a multitude of jobs just to make ends meet while all in all pushing their dreams to the backburner. Dr. Martin Luther King had a dream, and his dream came true. No longer becoming a dream, but mere reality, African American(s) will become equal and receive the promise, becoming a living dream.
