America’s Western Arctic is one of the most significant fronts in the fight against climate change. Also known as, the National Petroleum Reserve—also known as, Alaska, the 23-million-acre expansive wilderness is home to abundant wildlife and Indigenous neighborhoods that thrived in the region for thousands of years. Portraying 1% of the U.S. mainland - an area approximately the size of Virginia - this dynamic ecosystem supports diverse wildlife and resources for Native Alaskan communities. In short, the willow project is an oil project that will leave running oil through the arctic. This will affect the animals and humans living there and the climate.
