Dear supporters,
Thank you to the 1,325+ of you who have signed the petition against the Camden Film Quarter development. With the local elections on 7 May 2026 just two weeks away, we wanted to share two important updates.
1. We have just polled local party candidates on the Camden Film Quarter
This week we sent a short four-question candidate survey to every party standing in the wards directly affected by the proposed CFQ — Kentish Town South, Kentish Town North, Gospel Oak, Haverstock, and Highgate. Surveys have gone to Labour, Liberal Democrat, Conservative, Green, and Reform UK candidates, directly where possible and via party hubs otherwise.
The survey focuses on the core concerns this petition has raised: building height and protected views, the co-location of housing above an enclosed waste/recycling facility, and deep basement excavation next to a primary school.
Candidates have until 30 April 2026 to respond. Once the deadline passes, we will publish responses side-by-side — and crucially, we will also publish the names of any candidates who did not respond. Silence on these issues is itself a position, and voters deserve to know before polling day.
We will share the full results in a follow-up update shortly after 30 April.
2. Please check that your planning objection has been published — and follow up if it hasn't
We have become aware that a significant number of objections submitted by residents do not appear to have been published on the Camden planning portal. This is concerning, and we encourage every signatory who has submitted an objection to take a moment to verify it is there.
You can check the planning portal here:
https://camdocs.camden.gov.uk/CMWebDrawer/PlanRec?q=recContainer:%222025/4861/P%22
If you submitted an objection and cannot find it:
Contact Camden's planning team directly (planning@camden.gov.uk) and ask for confirmation that your objection has been received and logged.
If you do not receive a satisfactory response, consider resubmitting and keeping a copy of your submission.
Let us know — we are tracking this issue and it is important that no resident's voice is lost from the public record.
If you have not yet submitted an objection, it is not too late. Signing the petition is a powerful statement of collective concern, but formal objections lodged on the Camden planning portal carry separate weight in the planning process. Both matter.
What you can do this week
- Check the planning portal and confirm your objection is logged.
- If it's missing, contact Camden planning to follow up.
- Share this petition and update with neighbours who may be affected but haven't yet signed.
- Watch this space — candidate responses (and non-responses) published shortly after 30 April, in time for polling day on 7 May.
Thank you for staying engaged!
