Bo-Kaap is the oldest neighbourhood in South Africa. Bo-Kaap is a unique urban landscape with a vibrant, living culture and way of life. Bo-Kaap is a significant place and an embodiment of a way of life for the residents of Bo-Kaap and Cape Town.

WE SAY NO TO CASINOS IN BO-KAAP

1. The proposed location is within 100m of several religious institutions - St.Pauls Church, Loop Street Mosque and Jumuah Mosque, etc.

2. The proposed location is within 100m of 2 public schools and national heritage sites- St.Pauls Primary School and Vista High School.

3. It is on the walking route of learners to and from school.

4. There are several madrassas (religious schools) in the immediate vicinity.

5. The location is within a residential area and had housed a rovind casino in the 1990's. The residents protested and the casino was closed down.

6. Due to the location in a residential area there are additional challenges such as noise pollution, increase traffic, parking and unsocial behaviour of patrons.
