Object to new housing plans for 103 houses in Northway, Maghull
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Maghull and the surrounding communities, oppose the proposal to build 103 new homes on land off Northway, Maghull.
This proposal raises serious concerns about flooding, local infrastructure, traffic, public services and the loss of valuable open land. We are calling on Sefton Council to reject any planning application for this development.
The proposed site forms part of an important green area on the edge of Maghull. Development here has the potential to increase flood risk and place additional pressure on local drainage systems, particularly given the proximity of nearby watercourses. Residents are deeply concerned about the long-term consequences for surrounding homes and the wider community.
The development would also add significant pressure to roads that are already congested, particularly around Northway and nearby junctions. Local GP surgeries, NHS dental services and schools are already under strain, and many residents feel that existing infrastructure is struggling to meet current demand. Adding over one hundred new homes without the necessary improvements would only increase these pressures.
The loss of open green space is another major concern. This land provides an important natural buffer, contributes to local biodiversity and helps preserve the character of Maghull. Once it is developed, it cannot be replaced.
Residents deserve meaningful consultation and a planning process that genuinely listens to the community. Development should be sustainable, supported by adequate infrastructure and should not come at the expense of public safety, environmental protection or the quality of life of existing residents.
We are asking Sefton Council to refuse this application and instead support responsible development in appropriate locations that protects Maghull’s environment and meets the needs of both current and future residents.
