After months of campaigning, I’m absolutely delighted to share that Newton Leys will NOT have a traveller site!
Last night, Taylor Wimpey’s revised application for 113 homes—without the traveller site—was officially approved. I’ve also received confirmation that the original application, which included the traveller site, will be withdrawn very soon.
If you’d like to watch how it unfolded, the full meeting is available here:

Key Takeaways from the Decision:
✅ No Traveller Site – Taylor Wimpey must now contribute £1 million towards an alternative site elsewhere in Milton Keynes.
✅ Affordable Housing & Accessibility – 36 affordable homes will be built, with some specifically designed for wheelchair users.
✅ Better Parking Provision – Additional visitor spaces are required to address concerns over tandem parking.
✅ Construction Hours Limited – Work will only be permitted between 8 AM – 6 PM (Mon–Fri) and 8 AM – 1 PM (Sat).
✅ Construction Will Begin Soon – Now that approval is secured, Taylor Wimpey is expected to begin building quickly.
While most residents had hoped the fields could remain untouched, the land had long been designated for employment use—so development was always going to happen. This is the best possible outcome we could have hoped for. Most importantly, our voices were heard, and Newton Leys will not have a traveller site, with it being the wrong place for current residents and the travelling community.
Thank You!
A massive thank you to everyone who signed and shared the petition—your support made a huge difference and truly helped shape the outcome!
Special thanks to the local councillors at both Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Parish Council and Stoke Hammond Parish Council who supported us throughout:
🔹 Cllr Ed Hume (Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Parish Council)
🔹 Cllr Ethan Kelly (Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Parish Council)
🔹 Cllr Dan Vatamanu (Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Parish Council)
🔹 Cllr Craig Champion (Stoke Hammond Parish Council)
And of course, heartfelt thanks to the brilliant volunteers from Newton Leys Planning Matters—Greg, Rachel, Simon, Ronan, Ali—for their relentless dedication from day one, and to Lucy, Laurence, Jo, and Jon, who knocked on doors through cold, dark winter nights to spread the word and rally support.
Newton Leys was never the right location for a traveller site—both our community and the travelling community deserve much better and this result is a win for both communities!
Thank you once again to everyone who supported this campaign!
