Object to Carbon Rated Parking Permits

Object to Carbon Rated Parking Permits
The Issue
Glasgow City Council are proposing a tiered approach to resident parking permits based upon car emissions, but the council have done little to support the transition to low carbon vehicles and will regressively affect lower income residents with this proposal. Without support for this transition, this is a tax on city residents.
- The council has only installed a limited number of chargers around the city, with limited plans to grow these.
- The council increased the cost of charging to a rate that is equivalent to fossil fuels, so does nothing to encourage change.
- The council have made no arrangements to enable residents to install on-street charging, doing nothing to support those that live in communal flats - Previous on-street charging trials have lapsed with no plans to reinstate.
Unless the council can outline plans to support the transition then residents should object to this proposal.
