The feral horse population is shrinking because of all the BLM round ups and forced sterilization of the horses. It is wrong to do these kind of round ups because they can kill the horses and devastate the population of these beautiful creatures. The feral horse population must never go extinct they are a representation for our national treasures and represent the beauty in nature. According to the article "the governments failed program" on the American wild horse preservation societies webpage the BLM has failed to do. The BLM, under the free roaming horses and burro act of 1971, the Bureaucracy of Land Management(BLM) has failed to ensure that the wild horse population is safe. The BLM has did nothing to prevent the ongoin slaughter of the wild horse and has left out its promise of the Act that gives protection to the horses. The BLM has brutally killed horses so that they can let livestock take the land that belonged to them. The land by the way is part of the land that the horses are protected under but get rounded up reguardless, many horses are killed with 95% being auctioned of for slaughter. This petition is to get president Obama to intervene and make sure that BLM is obeying the Free Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971. It is very important that we keep the wild horse population so they can help balance the enviorment and lower weeds and other plants bad for the development of grass. It is important for the younger generations and the future generations to see this beauty in nature so they can adopt a lifestyle that promotes adventure, exploration, and fitness.
