Oakville's present by-laws state that all dogs must be leashed when in public. There is an established OFF LEASH DOG AREA within Post Park that serves the law-abiding, property-tax paying residents of Oakville living in the neighbourhoods bounded by Cornwall Ave./Speers Rd. going south to the lake. This leash free area allows dogs to run freely, play, and socialize, permitting healthy exercise while maintaining a well balanced disposition. There is a request being submitted to Town Council, by a dozen or so NEW residents of Balsam Dr., which borders one side of Post Park, to CLOSE the Off Leash Dog Area permanently. Their concerns include dogs running loose on the soccer field possibly causing child injury and noise. These are unenforced by-law issues.
