As of March 2020, Oakland University and all other schools nationwide put a halt to in-person courses due to the national COVID-19 pandemic. Oakland University has succeeded in protecting the physical well-being of us students, but has fallen short in aiding us financially. That is the purpose of this petition.

Almost a year later, we the people are still globally fighting this deadly disease. Not only have we been inconvenienced with having to fight for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones, but we are still fighting to stay afloat monetarily.

In person classes have been suspended.

Access to labs have been revoked.

Our recreational center is practically closed.

So why then, is it that OU's tuition costs have remained the same?

Wayne State has reduced summer tuition by 30%. A number of other universities throughout the U.S. have also done so. It is time for Oakland University to aid their students as well.

It is crucial that we the proud students of Oakland University, who bleed black and gold, band together now more than ever. With collective efforts, we will come out of this pandemic unscathed and prepared to face the world head on. We will use our educations to empower one another and create positive change throughout the world.

In order to do so however, we must fight. Fight to lower Oakland University's tuition costs.
