I am a student of the Oak Grove Middle School. I remember as a young child, the dress code didn't allow spaghetti strap tank-tops, but nothing more. However, when I entered middle school, I was outraged when I was informed that students were not allowed to wear tank-tops, shorts and skirts above finger tip length, leggings unless a shirt was covering the front and back, or shirts that showed skin when you put your arms up.

Being a woman, it is difficult to find clothes that fit the dress code of, "No crop tops or shorts and skirts above finger tip length" because that is all there is when you go shopping. Not to mention the message it gives to young adults. This strict code makes students feel like they are a distraction and they should hide their bodies. This reinforces body image issues. 

By signing and sharing this petition you help Oak Grove MO district students fight for our right to dress in crop tops, halter tops, leggings without covering ourselves, skirts and shorts at the comfortable length, and tank tops. I am going to fight for my rights, and I hope you will, too.
