It seems downright silly to me that we allow non residents to buy New Zealand Houses and Land (Residential or Commercial), hell you actually don't have to be physically in the country to purchase property here! We are a unique country with a unique way of life that needs to be protected. I believe that people who have citizenship and residency here should be the only ones allowed to buy here.  I think the reasons are basic common sense, those who have an interest here, have family here and a life here will look after their own back yard ensuring that future generations will have a place to call home.
