At the end of the month, schools across NYS are required to submit their reopening plans to Albany. Districts across the state are wrestling with how to safely reopen while Cuomo and NYSED sit on their hands. New York's active cases are declining, but what happens when we send our kids back to school?

We know that social distancing and wearing masks work to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Even with reduced class sizes, students will be in contact with far more people than they have been since March. While we all do our best to take care of our own health, it is out of our control what sort of settings our students come from. If a second wave is to grip the nation, we need to be prepared.

We are on our way to 200 supporters - that is still not enough to get this done. Our goal is to get state funded COVID-19 tests for teachers across NYS sooner rather than later. Let's get Albany's attention while we still have time. Please share this petition as often as possible with everyone via text, social media, and email. Teachers are essential workers, and we deserve to be treated as such.
