This case has the beginnings of a modern day Emmett Till story, but thankfully the man that was wrongfully accused was not harmed and has video to support a heinous crime of false claim committed against him. These same tactics were those that took the lives of Emmet Till and many more wrongfully accused black people at the mercy of a racist white person crying wolf. Amy Cooper of NY needs to be arrested and charged with false reporting and a hate crime. The evidence clearly supports her need for arrest. She weaponized her white privilege and made a false report via her 911 call that was recorded. “It is critically important to recognize that Falsely Reporting an Incident can either be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony. As such, it is punishable by up to one year in jail and as much as up to seven years in state prison.” New York State Penal Law 240.50, 240.55, and 240.60

She cannot just apologize for her crime and should be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for her actions.
