Justice for Jamel Floyd

Justice for Jamel Floyd

The Issue

On June 3 around 10 am, an inmate in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park Brooklyn, New York, was pepper-sprayed by Correction Officers to death in his cell. Jamel Floyd, a black man, was only 35 years old. Floyd was asthmatic and diabetic. The Dentition Center was aware of his underlining medical conditions. For years, there have been multiple cases of mistreatment of those detained in this Metropolitan Detention Center. Jamel Floyd's family has not been able to receive much information from law enforcement. The Federal Bureau of Prison commenced an investigation but we need answers and fast! We need justice for Jamel Floyd!
