J.Hood Wright Park is located between Fort Washington and Haven Avenue and between 173rd and 176th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood. J.Hood Wright needs new resources for recreational play for its residents. Currently, the space that is meant to be a baseball field is being used year-round as a soccer field. Injuries are common here as players from as young as five years old fall and hurt themselves in the cracked concrete that has not been fixed in years. Trash cans are currently being used as goal posts. We are pushing for J.Hood Wright Park to be granted an acrylic soccer field with real goal posts with the help of the New York City Football Club and their initiative. This initiative will bring valuable resources to our community such as more recreational play, programming, and expanding the availability of sports to our residents.
