Ever since covid-19 has hit the United States and especially NYC hard, we have been forced into remote learning. For some this may be an okay way to learn. But for the majority this is incredibly impossible as a way for people to learn. Not only can people not retain information but they can't even focus because they may have personal issues going on in their life. An example of this is me, I was going to pass this school year with flying colors but when covid-19 hit I started instantly failing. I could not learn and retain information in this way and I failed everything from homework to tests to classwork, everything. Eventually giving up with no will to continue. I am not the only one like this and I feel as if this year will be the highest count of students failing a grade, and it is something we as a collective people need to work out. Email this petition to everyone you know. Get it on the radar of the New York Department of Education. We need all the help you can get so if we can get this on the radar of NYDOE we have a chance at saving many people from failing for something they can not control. If we are to have everyone passed people are going to be able to go into the next grade with no issues. If the NYDOE refuses to pass everyone with at least a 65 or above then this year will be the record amount of students enrolled into summer school. Due to summer school also taking place remotely students are more likely to fail it making it the largest amount of students to fail a grade. We can't have all these people being left back a grade or losing their graduation in their respective year. Graduating highschool in someones specific graduation year is like a dream for most if not all teenagers. It's bad enough that the seniors lose their graduation ceremonies and parties but now the younger students will have to wait an extra year for their graduation because in 2020 we had bad luck with a deadly virus.
