The Pledge:

I am pleased to provide my support for a number of economic development initiatives proposed by the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) which will positively impact the residents and businesses of Staten Island and increase the number of jobs in the community. 

These projects include:

West Shore Light Rail – Support for SIEDC’s effort to build a light rail system that would connect the borough’s South and West Shores with the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail on the New Jersey side of the Bayonne Bridge. This project would create a new route for 21st century Staten Island commuters while alleviating traffic congestion related to the thousands of new jobs along the transit corridor.

Staten Island Skyway – The creation of a world-class park on the half-mile elevated portion of the abandoned North Shore Rail Right-Of-Way between Richmond Terrace and Heberton Avenue and Nicholas Avenue.  The Port Richmond project will provide sorely needed activated park space, transportation connectivity and recreational and business opportunities.

SI Gondola – Backing the design and construction of the borough’s first aerial gondola system to connect Staten Island to the rest of the region via a route between Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey.

SIPTRI/TID – Assistance in furthering SIEDC’s effort to gain legislative support for a designated Transportation Improvement District on Staten Island which would manage the planning, selection, and implementation of projects designed to improve the community’s transportation infrastructure.
