Create a New Dog Park on the Northern End of Greenpoint

The Issue

Oh hey! My name is Chelsea and I am 27 years old. I was born, raised, and I still live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
As I am sure most of you are aware, Greenpoint has exploded in the last ten years! So many new apartment buildings, restaurants, bars, and other businesses. With that came a huge boom of people and their lovely puppies and dogs.
Greenpoint does currently have a dog park in McCarren Park, which is on the southern end of Greenpoint, on the edge with Williamsburg, however if you live on Ash Street, Box Street, or Commercial Street, you have a long walk with your puppy/dog just to get to the park!
Greenpoint’s waterfront continues to change with new buildings. There is definitely many areas for future dog parks to go. Some of these areas include WNYC Transmitter Park, Newton Barge Playground, One Blue Slip, at the very beginning of Manhattan Ave., Greenpoint Playground, American Playground, India Street past West Street where the ferry comes, etc. Honestly the list goes on and on.
Having another dog park in a convenient area for the northern Greenpoint, Brooklyn residents, will give puppies and dogs the true energy, exercise, and socialization skills that they need. It will create unity and foster a friendly environment.
Please sign this petition and share this with your family and friends. Thank you!
