Dear Speaker Corey Johnson and City Council Members

The Bronx has over 1.4 million residents yet not one animal shelter which overburdens the other shelters in the city resulting in less space, less time and less care for all the animals city-wide.

This state of the art facility provides community services such as a badly needed low-cost veterinarian for vaccinations, wellness check, and spay/neuter clinic, pet food bank, free dog training, and pet surrender prevention counseling to prevent pets from being surrendered due to lack of resources.

Besides union jobs and volunteer opportunities for all ages, the city is offering a program to give an underrepresented community a path to veterinary careers.  Also Wild Bird Fund is offering an educational program on wildlife and rehabilitation.

The need and support is strong throughout the Bronx, including Co-op city which has the highest concentration of service pets in the Bronx.

Please do not allow any single member to act as an obstacle to a worthwhile project with benefits fro a community.

Thank you

NYC Constituents
