It's bad enough that you lied in the first place, however, we would be much happier if you would at least solve the slow-downs through drivers. You could easily load the things that don't need fast memory into the slower partition to avoid this, and it would be like the 512mb wasn't there. 
  I believe that this business practice is wrong, and many others feel the same way. If you won't fix the hardware, you could at least have the decency to alleviate the problem through drivers.
