CCSD recruits teachers from the Philippines to fill classroom vacancies.   Filipino teachers come to Nevada on a J1 (Student Visa).

Unfortunately after 3 - 5 years the Visa expires. Teachers work hard to adapt to CCSD culture, engage in professional development, and many develop special education classroom experience.   CCSD loses a large investment if Filipino Teachers return to the Philippines.

This year CCSD is reopening in-person campuses in a pandemic.   We have thousands of staff openings primarily in special education.  Losing special education teachers is unacceptable.  Losing our J1 teachers is unacceptable.

Please extend the J1 Visas to include up to 7 years for all J1 CCSD Filipino Teachers.
