Reduce 18months license training program to 3months for Nigerian foreign trained nurses.

Reduce 18months license training program to 3months for Nigerian foreign trained nurses.
The Issue
Nigerian foreign trained nurses are required to undergo 18months adaptation training outside the four to five years spent attaining their B.Sc before they are registered to practice. The training is not an issue, as it is imperative for us to get certified and have an orientation of the Nigerian nursing setting. We are spending a lot of time retaking the things we have already done not regarding to the fact that we are not allowed to do internship and NYSC without such experience cannot work in Nigeria. We would very much like the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria and Ministries of Health and Education to look into this matter and do something about it, by reducing it to 3 months just like other medical professions like medicine, pharmacy and Dentistry so that we can do our internship & NYSC requirements needed to apply for a nursing job in Nigeria.
