Collectively, we can stop the world’s first commercial octopus farm

The Issue

The Spanish company Nueva Pescanova is in the process of building the world's first commercial octopus farm in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.

This decision is beyond cruel as these animals are known to be highly intelligent and sensitive creatures, as you will know if you have seen the Oscar winning documentary 'My Octopus Teacher' on Netflix.

The company will start selling approximately 3,000 tonnes of farmed octopus per year from 2023.

Please let's stop this unnecessary and barbaric act when there are alternatives available including plant-based 3D printed meat.

Tell Nueva Pescanova and The Gran Canaria Tourist Board that not only will you boycott commercially farmed octopus, but that you will also refuse to spend your tourism cash in Gran Canaria.

Ironically the Gran Canaria Tourism hashtag is: #somuchtolivefor - let's tweet them on Twitter: @turismogc and Facebook: @MyGranCanaria that this means 'sentient' animal life, and not just human.
