On 2-19-2022… my world was shattered. I went to Corpus Christi, Texas  to drop off my dogs #johnnycassiusclaypotholder and #bexarcountycourtmartiallaw with my son for a couple of days in Banquete, TX. and I flew to Houston for my granddaughters birthday.

Around 5 am they escaped. A few minutes later they had been shot by my sons neighbor.  My son went to check on them around 6 and realized they were not in the yard.  He lives on an acre and began looking for them.  When he realized they were not in the yard he jumped in his truck and began searching the neighborhood. 

He found Johnny Cassius in a ditch in front of his neighbors yard (but NOT the neighbor that shot him).  My son thought he'd been hit by a car.  My son found Bexar County about a 1/4 of a mile away hiding in the brush, he appeared to be ok and jumped in the truck.  He dropped Bexar off at home with my grandson and rushed JC to the nearest vet (Tejas Vet Clinic in Calallen), they referred him to VCA Oso Creek Animal Hospital in Corpus Christi.  My son rushed JC to VCA Oso Creek Animal Hospital and Emergency Center I jumped on the first flight back to Corpus. Upon examination they discovered that he had not been hit by a car but had been shot.

JC had three bullets lodged in his spine and I had to put him down. I am broken.

JC was my best friend.

When we arrived home, we called the police.  When the Sheriffs deputies arrived they informed us that they received a call from my sons neighbor at approximately 5 am stating he had shot my dogs because they were in his yard and feared for his life.

Our video surveillance footage however shows a different story.  The neighbor and his son came outside.. went back in, came back out, you can see flashes of light (possibly flashlights)  You hear the neighbor yell "hey! get out of here"  then the first two shots...several seconds go by and then several shots in quick succession and Johnny Cassius screaming and howling in pain.12 shots can be heard. 12 SHOTS!

When the Nueces County Sheriff's deputies reviewed the footage in my sons living room, they stated that the video clearly shows that these people were not in danger.

They said they were going to charge him with 2 counts of cruelty to a non livestock animal....

They stated that they couldn’t make an arrest because too much time had lapsed (we were at the hospital trying to save my dogs life).

I’m asking the Nueces County District Attorney's Office Mark A. Gonzalez to hold this man accountable. #johnnycassiusclaypotholder was my family. I need help to get #justiceforjc PLEASE SIGN & SHARE!!! 

If you knew JC… you know he was the most loving, best dog. Our lives will never be the same. He was 9 years old.
