Non-Compulsory Sports Lessons

Non-Compulsory Sports Lessons
The Issue
For too long NSW students have been forced to partake in involuntary sports lessons. These lessons may make students who are less physically able feel isolated and inferior. While some may argue that sports lessons can help develop physical strength and confidence, those who are predisposed to be less physically adept or self assured (like myself) find it very difficult to communicate with the more sporty students, let alone befriend them. I have known students to injure themselves so that they can get out of sports lessons, physically disabled students cannot benefit from sports lessons either. Durring the time that sports lessons take up (up to 200 minutes a week) we could be learning about useful things like paying tax, electing representatives, and even getting a job. The broken syllabus, however, is a whole other issue. The point I'm trying to make is that students such as myself cannot benefit from sports lessons and students should not be forced to partake in these lessons.
