MAKE HARVARD BREAK TO QUADS W/ A DUBS BID
MAKE HARVARD BREAK TO QUADS W/ A DUBS BID
The Issue
As debaters, we strive to compete at the highest level of competition in our activity, the Tournament of Champions. One of the biggest tournaments in the country, the one hosted at Harvard University, is the hardest way to achieve this goal. While we enjoy the competitive nature of this tournament, we firmly believe that there is such a thing as too much competition. Harvard, a tournament which has had at most 350 entries in previous years, now has in excess of 470. However, it still stubbornly holds on to its old ways and breaks to triple octafinals, making teams with a record of 4-2 in preliminary rounds, for a lack of better words, absolutely screwed. Therefore, we call on Harvard, the NSDA, and the TOC to make Harvard break to quadruple octafinals and have a double octafinals bid.
