"NPL should comply with FIFA & NFA directive"

"NPL should comply with FIFA & NFA directive"
The Issue
The Namibia Premier League (NPL) Executive Committee under the leadership of Mr Patrick Kauta brought football to a halt for almost a year. These self centred and inconsiderate NPL Executive Members continue to fight the NFA and have filed an appeal/arbitration at the Court of Arbitration (CAS), Lausnne, Switzerland after they dismally lost cases in the High and the Supreme Courts in Namibia. As a result of their actions:
1. Football players are without income and thus finding difficult to provide for themselves and families.
2. Main and long-term sponsor MTC has indicated that it will not continue with its sponsorship if football does not start before September, the sponsorship amount earmarked for the football season 2019/2020 will be forfeited.
3. The NPL Executive Committee has brought the name of football into disrepute and as a consequence has made it difficult to attract new sponsorship.
4. The NPL Executive Committee is challenging a FIFA endorsed directive which could have dire consequences for Namibia as a Member of FIFA.
5. Namibia / NFA / Brave Warriors / Brave Gladiators and all junior national teams might be expelled / ban from participating in future COSAFA / CAF / FIFA regional, continental and international competitions.
6. With all these cases (P Kauta and M Haingura//NFA and RL Haikali, F Mbidi //NFA and NPL // NFA) before CAS, a successful appeal in favour of appellants who are challenging the outcome of the NFA elective Congress, Namibians might not see football starting soon.
