At the 9/23/21 Novi Public Library Board meeting, Board President Kathy Crawford acknowledged receipt of this petition. She declined to remove Sreeny Cherukuri as DEI Chair and defended him, saying that everyone has offensive social media content. Later in the same meeting, in violation of the Open Meetings Act, she announced that as a "solution" to the "bickering" on the DEI committee she is pausing the DEI committee indefinitely. The DEI committee is a standing committee. The library board president is not authorized to make decisions unilaterally nor in sessions that are not open to the public.
