City Council Agenda Item: Strategic Plan Update on City Parcels
Tracey RuizNovato, CA, United States

Hi All,
Action Item: Email the council. novatocouncil@novato.org
Please write: Hamilton Town Center is not appropriate for infill housing and that money from the sales of Hamilton properties should be used for Hamilton.
Background
There is a very odd agenda item for Tuesday's council meeting which has no action proposed for the Council but is regarding the Bachelor's Officer's Quarters, Hamilton Town Center, and Commissary Site.
************
10. STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE, PROPOSED SCHEDULE, AND REVIEW OF THE PROCESS TO ADDRESS THE CITY-OWNED FEDERAL LANDS TO PARKS SITES IN HAMILTON, STRATEGIC PLAN ITEM 3C
Receive an update regarding the current Strategic Plan from Staff including the proposed schedule for the upcoming Strategic Plan and review the process to address the City-owned Federal Lands to Parks sites in Hamilton (Item 3C).
****************
When we last left this item, it was proposed by Councilmember Pat Eklund to have a council meeting to provide COUNCIL DIRECTION on these parcels to the city staff based on the input from the community meetings. This item is merely an update with a final council vote set for November 14th (Curiously, this is after the Election).
I think it's important to send an email to council, restating that we are opposed to infill housing at the Hamilton Town Center and that we want money from the sale of Hamilton properties to go into a Legacy Fund that will restore the Hamilton Theater.
There is currently about $2,500,000 that is already coming from the sales of the Hospital and the Hamilton Cottages lot.
P.S. I have spoken with one councilmember who is opposed to Hamilton money being used specifically at Hamilton and wants it placed in the General Fund. The same councilmember said that "It is my job to bring development projects [referring to the one originally proposed for the Town Center] to the City of Novato."
Please take a few minutes to write that email or come to the Council meeting on Tuesday, July 25. General business starts at approximately 7 p.m.
Thanks,
Tracey Ruiz
