Traditional Commencement Ceremony for NSU's College of Psychology's class of 2020.

Traditional Commencement Ceremony for NSU's College of Psychology's class of 2020.
The Issue
Clinical Psychology students from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) are formally petitioning for an in-person traditional commencement ceremony. We are devastated by the news of NSU’s decision for a virtual graduation. While we appreciate the promise of an in-person “celebration,” we deserve a traditional commencement ceremony. Obtaining a doctorate degree is one of the most significant milestones in our lives. A virtual ceremony and/or a “celebration” would not appropriately acknowledge the five or more years of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication we have poured into earning this degree. A Facebook poll of NSU’s Clinical Psychology Class of 2020 revealed an astounding 100% of respondents prefer a traditional ceremony over an in-person “celebration.” We understand this pandemic requires us to modify all aspects of our lives. For this reason, we are asking to postpone graduation until an in-person ceremony of this size is deemed appropriate by experts. Please reconsider the in-person “celebration” and allow us to have the traditional ceremony we have worked hard for.
