Coming from a mom who's expecting in a months time, in these uncertain, stressful times, I was saddened to hear that the ban on home births has been extended another month. I feel like it’s a time to speak out for myself and other mothers with this concern. We have rights and I feel like they are stripping them away from us. For an example, according to the International Confederation of Midwives statement letter in line 7 it states: “In countries where health systems can support homebirth (which we do), and healthy woman experiencing normal pregnancies with the support of their midwives with appropriate emergency equipment may be safer at home than in the hospital where there may be many patients with COVID-19 even non-maternity patients.”

I personally would feel a lot more safe in my own home and not in the hospital ESPECIALLY during this pandemic. Moms have been self-isolating for weeks and don’t want the risk of being exposed to the virus. Please consider lifting this ban, for the safety of the mothers and their babies! Thank you.
