Improvements on the A614, Bilsthorpe giving safer exit out of Bilsthorpe

The Issue

There has been a lot of discussion and concern around the safety of the main roads around Bilsthorpe in particular the A614 junction. Residents for many years have endured trying to get out of the village safely and having to cross the A614 is a particular concern as there are long lines of traffic from both the Ollerton and Rainworth direction which makes it extremely difficult to get out of Mickledale Lane particularly during peak times.

there are proposed developments in Bilsthorpe of new housing (potentially several hundred new houses) which will generate more traffic leaving the village, more congestion on the A614 and A617 junctions and even more people risking pulling out and being involved in collisions

it appears that the villagers views/concerns which have been voiced for many years aren't having an impact as there haven't been "enough accidents".

ONE ACCIDENT IS TOO MANY!!

Other roads in the area have benefitted from improvements that haven't met the standard requirements for major improvements

If we are to welcome more houses and people into the village let's pull together to get the point across. The roads in and around the village need to be safer before the accident is a fatality
