Install a raised Zebra crossing on Digby Avenue, Mapperley, Nottingham

The Issue

Our daughter has asked that a raised Zebra crossing be installed so she and her classmates can safely cross Digby Avenue to use their school sports facility, which is on the opposite side of the road from her school.

Currently, the school children do not use the Multi Use Games Area for outdoor PE as much as they would like as crossing the road is difficult and dangerous.  She needs your support in signing this petition to ensure Nottinghamshire County Council take some action.  The crossing however will not only be used by my daughter and her classmates.

Between Lambley Avenue and College Road, 0.7 miles, is a very busy stretch of road on Digby Avenue.  This stretch of road is access to:

-          A Nursery (Population 40, aged 3-4 years)

-          An Infant School (Population 180, aged 4-6 years)

-          A Junior School (Population 241, aged 6-11 years)

-          A special education School (Population 90, aged 3-18 years)

-          52 Independent living apartments

-          Digby Park

-          Multi Use Games Area

There is no crossing provision on Digby Avenue to cross the road safely in the high usage area between Lambley Avenue & College Road. A raised Zebra Crossing will offer School Children and their parents, disabled young adults and their carers, local residents and the vulnerable elderly a safe place to cross the road with good visibility.

This petition is also being collected on paper.  The final petition will be submitted to the full Nottinghamshire County Council Meeting in November 2021 by our local County Councillors.

The Crossing has the support from the following:

-          Tom Randall, MP

-          Cllr. Sam Smith, Nottinghamshire County Councillor
