NTU rent refund for December up until February half term

NTU rent refund for December up until February half term
The Issue
Students across the country, including NTU students, were sent home early during December from their university accommodations. We are now being told we cannot return until mid February at the earliest, while we are still paying for the rent during these months.
This is outrageous. We should not be expected to pay for already excessively expensive accommodation that we are unable to live in and return to. There has been a substantial lack of information keeping students well informed during the break. This makes it harder for us students to work around these decisions being made, thus leading to important equipment which is fundamental for some students work and education subsequently being left at university with the expectation that we will be able to return. Not to mention the International students who travelled home to be with family for the holidays who are now unable to return to the country and their living arrangements in the UK.
Whilst other institutions such as the University of Liverpool have provided a rebate for students accommodation in December and January and allowed students to leave their contracts without consequences, NTU has failed to provide the same courtesy to its students.
Therefore, we the students of NTU are demanding that Nottingham Trent University provide a rebate such as this for our halls between the dates, December 3rd (when we were advised to leave) - January 25th and until we can return in February.
