Betelehemu

Betelehemu

The Issue

Every year, the Notre Dame Glee Club performs an incredible Christmas concert. At this concert, the Club goes through a set list of Christmas and Holiday songs from various traditions, many of which remain the same from year to year, and the most important of which being the masterpiece known as Betelehemu. Last year, to our dismay, Betelehemu was not performed, but we graciously accepted the change, knowing it could only make us stronger. However, it has come to our attention that once again Betelehemu will not be on the set list at this year's concert. This must change, for three reasons:

1) Betelehemu is a Nigerian Christmas carol that, when heard, opens up a world of incredible Christmas music previously unknown to the average person drowning in Michael Buble/Mariah Carey/Justin Bieber fluffy wish wash

2) It is rumored that Betelehemu singlehandedly helped two current-juniors get through their freshman year Physics I final. They listened and danced to it all morning before and walking into the test, and with its help, they did not fail. It is thanks to Betelehemu that these two people are still at this school

3) The only good recording of Betelehemu is by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Please do not leave us with only the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Thank you for your time and for signing this petition. With your help, we believe we can bring change to this Betelehemu-barren campus. Don't let Betelehemu die.
