Save our school! Keep Los Coyotes open for 2021-2022!
Why this petition matters
By closing Los Coyotes Middle School, Students at all Norwalk-La Mirada middle schools as well as the teachers and the staff at Norwalk-La Mirada middle schools as well as the parents and families of Norwalk-La Mirada middle school students are affected. Additionally, the students, families and staff at the elementary schools that feed into the Norwalk-La Mirada middle schools are impacted.
First, Los Coyotes students and families are impacted because they have to change schools in the middle of a pandemic. This is especially difficult because we are not even on campus and have to make important decisions without all the information to make the best ones. We chose to go to Los Coyotes Middle School in the 6th grade because we thought it was the best choice for each of us. We cannot even visit the campuses of the schools that we are supposed to choose between and do not know very much of what they offer.
We also think it is important to keep Los Coyotes open for our health and safety. If Los Coyotes Middle School closes, more students will be on the other middle school campuses, making social distancing more difficult. This would affect our ability to stay healthy and safe while we are in the middle of a pandemic with an easily spread disease. We do not want to spread COVID-19 to other students because we do not want to expose any family members to the virus, especially family members that are vulnerable or can be greatly affected by the disease.
