Northumbria Police & Independent Police disciplinary Panel: Sack Racist PC Katie Barratt.

Northumbria Police & Independent Police disciplinary Panel: Sack Racist PC Katie Barratt.
The Issue
PC Katie Barrett is still a Police Officer with Northumbria Police after being disciplined by the police service for using vile racist slurs off duty whilst in public. PC Barratt was waiting to be served in the Spice of Punjab in Newcastle in 2017, when she said in front of colleagues: "I wish these f------- p---- would hurry up with my pizza".
It was also claimed she had called them "n-----s, something PC Barratt never denied.
ResisitingHate.org has always stood up against racism and discrimination and we ask if you could please stand with us by reading and signing this petition.
PC Katie Barrett was reported by her own colleagues who were disgusted by her behaviour that night after a Police Christmas party. PC Barrett was suspended whilst investigated and was initially found guilty and dismissed by an Independent panel. However, PC Barrett appealed the decision and was later re-instated by the disciplinary panel as PC Barrett stated that her racist outburst was not the " Worst kind of Racism." PC Barrett was also handed £15,000 in back pay which in our opinion adds insult to injury.
An officer regardless of whether they are on or off duty has a personal responsibility to serve and protect all members of society regardless of Race, Religion, Nationality, Sexual Orientation or Social and Economic standing. However, in many cases up and down the country Police Officers and Forces have failed in this respect even after the McPherson report of 1999 into the racist Murder of Stephen Lawrence and subsequent bungled investigation into his murder.
At ResistingHate.org we intend to take a stand against institutional racism within policing and we ask you again if you could stand with us and ask Northumbria Police's professional standards department and the Independent Police complaints panel to re-think their decision to allow the disgraced and racist PC Katie Barrett to return to work as a Police Officer.
There are still questions whether PC Barrett can work within Asian,Black or other marginalised communities.
We call on Northumbria Police & The disciplinary panel to:
1) Sack PC Katie Barrett to show that racism or discrimination will not be tolerated in the Northumbria Police in any other public service.
2) Take back the £15,000 in Back Pay that was awarded on winning her appeal to show that there is no reward for racism, hatred or bad behaviour.
3) Apologise to the staff at the Spice of Punjab food outlet to show that Northumbria Police represents all members of society and will protect them no matter who they are or where they come from.
4) Make positive steps to show the public that racism and hatred will not be tolerated at any level by educating Police Officers and increasing awareness of race and diversity.
