Join us to hear from one of the most profound and Important Christian Palestinian voices of the moment, Rev. Munther Isaac, Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem, Palestine and Academic Dean of Bethlehem Bible College.
In a presentation entitled Silence is Complicity: A Palestinian Call to Action, Rev. Isaac will address the silence of US voices and churches in the face of mass civilian casualties and the destruction of the Palestinian homeland.
During the genocide in Gaza, Munther gained global attention for his sermon, Christ under the Rubble which was heard by tens of millions of people and subsequently quoted in South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. He has appeared on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, MSNBC, CBS, TRT and Democracy Now! He is also the author of of “The Other Side of the Wall: A Narrative of Lament and Hope” . Through these platforms he has been an unwavering moral voice speaking out against the slaughter in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank.
This presentation is sponsored by Friends of Sabeel North America and made possible with the cooperation of Northfielders for Justice in Palestine/Israel and hosted by the First UCC of Northfield. Sabeel Jerusalem is an ecumenical liberation theology movement founded by Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land
“Let it be clear: Silence is complicity, and empty calls for peace without a ceasefire and end to occupation, and the shallow words of empathy without direct action—are all under the banner of complicity...this genocide must stop now."
This event is free and open to the public.

From Apathy to Action: Calling for Justice from Palestine to Minneapolis
Place: Calvary Lutheran Church – 3901 Chicago Ave. – Minneapolis
Join us for a conversation with Palestinian pastor Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac and local Twin Cities clergy and racial justice activists about liberation and solidarity across borders, the connection and injustice in the US, Palestine, and beyond, and the moral obligation of the church to advocate for and work alongside those oppressed by state violence both locally and abroad. To help view the conversation through a local lens, we'll be meeting near George Floyd Square, the site of a national and global reckoning following the murder of George Floyd by state violence.
