We Northern Ontario passenger rail service are organizing a protest
Plan is to meet at the husky in Nipigon at or around 11 am August 3rd proceeding across the Nipigon bridge as a group . Gathering at the east end of the bridge for get together barbecue -picnic .
Hoping to have some guest speakers .
With this event I would like to address a few concerns I have with the resent decision to award School Bus contracts to Southland transportation from Alberta . We have always had safe reliable school bus service .
It takes a huge amount of work . dedication and sacrifices to operate in such a challenging geographical region ''
OUR bus companies were not given a chance to counter bid as the contract was awarded with great secrecy .
The impact on our bus companies is enormous causing them to lose
the contract they have held for so many years ..
Informing OUR bus companies hrs before the end of the school year.
They plan on running operations from Nipigon .
there is noway they can provide any kind of service with this plan ...
Short of buying the mechanic a rocket to travel and fix buses there is no way this contract
can work .................
NOW im not sure but someone did not make a educated decision on this ...
IF it was the company not realizing how challenging it was ...
or the school board not getting enough info
I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO BACK AWAY AND REALIZE HOW MUCH OF A MISTAKE THIS WAS FROM ALL PARTIES INVOLVED ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, AND REACH A AMICABLE DECISION TO START OVER AND AWARD THE CONTRACT TO THE OUR LOCAL BUS COMPANIES ...
