Bring Back Victor

The Issue

This is a classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Northern Kentucky University decided unilaterally to change the design of our beloved mascot, Victor The Viking, without much insight from alumni or current students. Victor does not just represent the university but he represents the NKU community. Our community is a tenacious community. We fight for what is right and it was reflected in our mascot, a fighter, a Norse. This new design does not reflect our community. It is a cartoon and lampoons our university. The university has came out to say the new design is to attract and not scare young kids and attendees and this does not make sense. I have attended countless functions involving children and Victor, he was beloved not feared. There has been tremendous backlash regarding the change and rightfully so. Our community deserves a voice in this decision and it has been resounding. Bring Back Victor..
