I am a young woman from Northern Ireland and I am ashamed that my home town does not offer me the same rights as the majority of people in the U.K. How can this be happening in 2016?

It is not acceptable that the people of Northern Ireland do not have the same right to an abortion granted to the rest of the U.K under the 1967 Abortion Act. The recent prosecution of a young woman who was forced by financial constraints to carry out her own miscarriage is wrong, and the situation the young women in question found herself in is not one we can allow to happen again. Body autonomy for the people of Northern Ireland should not be subject to financial constraints; the cultural climate created by our outdated law encourages women to endanger themselves and encourages shame and stigmatization. 

Sign this petition to show the Northern Ireland Assembly and current First Minister Arlene Foster that the citizens of Northern Ireland support the right to abortion, and that we stand in solidarity with those that are being unjustly prosecuted under the outdated legislation.
