We were all devastated with the news of Mercedes Lain. Three people are being held, in Marshall County jail awaiting charges,  however they were NOT the only people involved in this case.  Marshall county DCS, had been involved with this family, their older children and Mercedes MULTIPLE times.  There was KNOWN drug use, past charges involving Mercedes father (Kenneth Lain) selling his twelve year old daughter to exchange sex for drugs, as well as past arrests . DCS visited the baby in the "home" and continued to allow the parents to have her, in that living condition. DCS saw Mercedes in the weeks leading up to her death.  DCS did NOTHING , and they keep getting away with it. How many more children will we let die due to a faulty system? A system that was put in place to PROTECT them.  Let's share this, sign it and demand that Nelson Chipman launch an investigation into Marshall county DCS.
