Revise or Overturn NAH’s COVID Vaccination Mandate

The Issue

Healthcare professionals, Northern Arizona Community Members, who support our cause and disagree with our organizations decision please sign this petition!

Hundreds of Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) employees will soon be out of a job. A job many care so much about. The reason? Because, they have these limited choices: they must either get vaccinated, submit a medical and/or religious exemption (that may or may not be approved, due to subjective and selective criteria) or refuse to get vaccinated and “voluntarily” resign. The mandate is eliminating ones right to make their own choices, “Right to Liberty”, ultimately effecting their right of “No Discrimination” and of making their own decisions about their own healthcare! What happen to the healthcare field being leaders of supporting individual’s right to refuse or choose to receive certain treatment?

Last years Hero’s are this years targets! President Biden came out Sunday September 12th with a draconian mandate that any employer with 100+ employees must mandate a vaccine, (not the Governments place). It is no coincidence that NAH one day later came out with their mandate September 13th with no warning and no consultation from or with colleagues in departments of the organization. NAH said they’ve considered this for a while. Well before Biden’s announcement of the mandate. If that’s the case why come out less than 24 hours after the Biden administration and just after the 9/11 anniversary with such a controversial topic. And as a Healthcare organization they believe making this mandate will make them leaders in the community. Their mandate “Effective December 31, 2021, all colleagues will be required to be fully vaccinated, as a condition of employment at NAH. There will be certain medical and religious exceptions for approved individuals.” [Those colleagues who do not comply and become fully vaccinated will immediately voluntarily resign].

NAH has made whether you get the vaccine more divisive as if you get the vaccine you are treated better and respected while if you do not you are not helping. NAH states the only way around the vaccine is through a Religious and/or a Medical exemption or get the vaccine. But keep in mind if you are approved for an exemption you will be required to get tested 2x a week I believe at your expense whether you are symptomatic or not! As for the exemption review process, it has changed from previous years and is said that it will be extremely thorough, strict and extremely subjective, that is reviewed by a multi-discipline panel of NAH “experts” and personnel.

This mandate should not be written the way that it is! It should be a choice and remain a choice to get vaccinated or not, colleagues should be allowed to submit their medical and/or religious and/or philosophical exemptions (philosophical exemptions are granted under AZ’s law regarding approved exemptions) without fear of being denied, colleagues should not need to be tested more than once weekly if they are not showing symptoms!! Finally, creating financial hardships because we choose not to vaccinate is outrageous and we should not need to pay for our testing because we wish to be exempt!

NAH, an organization that is already understaffed claiming patient and staff safety is one of their priority’s yet says the unvaccinated colleagues are the biggest threat to both patients and staff, but if that’s the case is NAH going to try and force restrictions or mandates on those unvaccinated patients. NAH needs these Hero’s vaccinated or not!! The same Hero’s who have worked the frontlines throughout the entire pandemic! We mattered then, WHY NOT NOW?  To have a mission statement “Improving health, healing people – defines our purpose, while the Vision – Always better care. Every person, every time… together – is what we aspire to or hope to achieve.” TOGETHER stands out most especially when wanting to be a leader in the community, NAH should realize that the employees who they are outcasting are also apart of the community in which they want to become the healthcare organization leader! The senior leadership always and I mean always states “BETTER TOGETHER” during all events and during all forums they hold!

It is time they either give us unvaccinated colleagues a chance and don’t threaten our livelihood, they should revise this mandate to solely being a CHOICE, make it easier to be a CHOICE, make testing 1 time a week or the BEST CHOICE overturn their decision and end their mandate! Otherwise, come December 31st 2021, I strongly believe they will realize that it is not just unvaccinated colleagues against their mandates there are also many vaccinated colleagues who disagree with them! TAKE A STAND FOR MEDICAL FREEDOM!!
