Our local shops are a lifeline for local people. Especially during the Covid pandemic, they provide a vital service, especially to vulnerable people and those with restricted mobility. These shops are community assets.

Northampton Borough Council plans to sell off 14 local shops in Blackthorn, Goldings, Lings, Rectory Farm, Southfields and Standens Barn. It could end up with some communities losing their shop.

Existing shopkeepers were given first option to buy their shops. But sky-high valuations risk pricing them out of the market. The risk is that the shops are sold off to property developers and knocked down to make way for housing. We need housing - but we also need our local shops!

Southfields Residents Association is campaigning to support our local shops and shopkeepers. We want to make sure they remain serving the public. Please sign our petition to tell Northampton Borough Council - Hands off our local shops.
